  Manifold Labs Releases Manifold 2.0. Upgrades Targon to Advance Bittensor Ecology

  On March 31. 2025. @manifoldlabs tweeted on the X platform announcing the launch of Manifold 2.0 with major updates to Targon and introducing new products.Manifold Labs is an Austin, Texas-based company focused on scaling the Bittensor protocol with a commitment to decentralized technology to enable global access to open AI. The image accompanying the tweet shows a cityscape, possibly the Austin skyline, reflecting the company’s local ties.

  Version 2.0 of Targon, a library developed by Manifold Labs for building Bittensor subnets, upgraded the reward stack with the aim of improving the performance and incentives of subnets. According to the GitHub documentation (web ID: 1), updates to the Targon subnet are subject to extensive discussion and technical consensus, and do not support automated updates; miners will need to do this manually in order to complete the upgrade.In a follow-up response, Manifold Labs mentioned that 2024 was a critical year for the company, and that after experiencing volatility in the marketplace they are more focused in 2025. and that Manifold 2.0 marks a significant milestone in the company’s history. Manifold 2.0 marks the beginning of a new chapter.

  Manifold Labs’ mission is to make Bittensor a protocol with a seamless user experience and efficient infrastructure. They plan to use this small window to build the world’s first decentralized, cutting-edge AI lab covering decentralized computing, production-grade research, and premium user products. This goal is in line with Bittensor’s ecological trend, where projects such as Architex and Tensorplex are also pushing the convergence of AI and blockchain through the Bittensor network (web ID: 2).The release of Manifold 2.0 gives new impetus to the development of decentralized AI.
